When we landed at Beijing airport, I expected everything to be different, another world. Instead, my first revelation, proving my childish ignorance, was that the sky was still blue, the grass green, like in Romania, only people look and spoke differently.
I soon realized that big differences would strike me at every step. The same evening, we attended a welcome party, meeting Chinese friends and tasting Chinese food. I remained hungry, because my chopsticks did not hold food, it all dropped down as others laughed at my clumsiness.
